At Toy Hospital, a team of the nation’s most expert toy restorers have joined forces, ready to fix some of the UK’s most iconic dolls, toys and games. From Barbies and Action Men to Cabbage Patch Dolls and BMX bikes, each episode sees three broken toys brought back to life at the hands of the Toy Doctors. Once they are nursed back to full health, their grateful owners return to Toy Hospital to be reunited with their precious playthings.
Wanting to more than just a clip-based promo, we had our own shoot to create our own toy story; showing the life-cycle of a loved and used toy.
Main Promo Editing & Compositing
After shooting some scenes with a teddy bear for The Toy Hospital, on our initial watch of the promo we felt the continuity wasn’t quite right as the teddy bear damage wasn’t consistent to the timeline shown in the promo. I was tasked with editing and compositing the teddy bear damage to fix this
Toy Editing - Social Adapts
For social media we wanted to show a range of damaged toys beyond just our main teddy bear. We shot an extra 6 toys with the idea of making a 20” teaser promo where we cycle through these damaged toys, with the idea that they ‘have been thoroughly loved and have come to the end of their life cycle’. After creating the initial teaser promo we felt the toys weren’t ‘damaged’ enough. I was tasked with editing the toys to look further damaged.
Logo & Endboard Creation
During the creation of the title treatment I used old toy shop signage as my inspiration; both for the styling and the colour palette.
